EDO® is developed material with a flocked surface specially formulated to make it suitable for printing offset litho and a wide range of other graphical applications.
This remarkable product is manufactured by combining tradisional flocking methods with development in both adhesive and coating technologies. The result is this product which has a surface free of all loose fibres. The special surface treatment which is applied allows litho inks to take to the surface whilst limiting their penetration into the flock layer.
EDO® is available with three different surfaces
EDO Original : the sophisticated marble effect focuses on the natural feeling of real suede.
EDO Plain : no effect on the surface. Suitable when printing large parts of solid colours.
EDO Canvas : surface with linen embossing.
EDO 110 : For litho printing and covering, binding and laminating.
EDO 250 : For greeting cards, post cards, calendars & posters, covers, folders, boxes, etc.
PRINT AND FINISHING PROCESS SUITABILITY
EDO® has been specially developed for printing on Offset Litho presses and may be treated as an uncoated paper in most respects. As with all paper, it is susceptible to moisture and temperature change.
Standard inks, which are quick setting and hard drying are recommended. Although printing on EDO® does not require “Special” ink, the selection of the correct ink is important. Contact your regular ink supplier for recommendations. The use of varnish / seal is not advised.
A 13 % IPA solution is recommended, with the water temperature being at 10°C.
± Cyan 125, Magenta 125, Yellow 110, Black 150.
A screen value of 133 or 150 is recommended.
Press operator should increase pressures ± 200 microns until a good dot definition is achieved.
Ideally the use of Infra Red drying at 40/45°C is recommended.
Allow the printed EDO® to stand at least 2 days (in small stacks) before handling and print finishing. When guillotine-cutting, avoid excessive pressure to reduce the possibility of marking (small stacks).
Temperature : 90°C – 140°C
Printing Time : ± 0.5 sec

Suitable for EDO 110, EDO 250 is suitable depending on digital printers being used (thickness acceptable by the printer). EDO 110 is qualified on XEIKON digital printing units.
